These pages are NOT chronological (refer to Germs pages for partial history, many more to post). I chose these based on the personal preference of favorite classic shots.

77-11-23-3-34-DarbyMasque Purchase
Germs, Darby Crash aka Bobby Pyn, performing at legendary Masque, November 23, 1977. This shot graced the two page spread opening for Don Waller's report on the Masque, in MOJO, July 2004. The Germs were just starting out, and we all could be whoever we wanted to be at the Masque. Only those in the know were there. Ironically most of us thought we were outsiders. Darby loved performing his early Iggy riff/homage and cut himself with a broken beer bottle.

77-11-23-3-30-DarbyCigMasq Purchase
Germs, Darby Crash aka Bobby Pyn, performing at legendary Masque, November 23, 1977.

78-02-24-Germs08cDarbyMB Purchase
Darby Crash, Masque Benefit, February 24, 1978. Seen on cover of "Live at the Masque" CD. The image is flipped on the cover. Wonder if the art director decided it looked better that way? I'm constantly amazed at how my photos are abused . . .

79-12-00-23c-GermsCC Purchase
Germs, Darby Crash and audience, Culver City Auditorium, December ? 1979. Dudes swooning -- Ron Reyes, one-time Black Flag singer, Black Flag’s Greg Ginn, White Flag’s Bill Bartell and members of Social Distortion, TSOL and other early hardcore bands in the audience and backstage. Love this next to 79-08-30-26c-XSDBR.

80-07-30c-DarbyMohawk Purchase
Germs, Darby Crash, July 1980, party in England. Darby in his “mohawican” hair, Adam Ant t-shirt, and blue eyes open. I flew to England to shoot the Clash and X. I shot Darby at a couple of parties with X, Go-Go's, Madness, the Pistols' Steve Jones, Paul Cook and others.
Darby returned to LA with one of the FIRST Mohawks in LA or the US. His admiration for Adam Ant and the British scene was radical for him and the scene. This is one of the last times I saw or shot him.

77-07-08-1-41-PatLarch Purchase
Germs Pat Smear, at Weirdos show, first Slash magazine benefit, Larchmont Hall (near Paramount Studios), July 8, 1977. Published internationally, most recently back page of Rhino's "No Thanks" boxed set book. Pat is a great performer and pal. A really, nice guy. Oh the stories we could tell! Look at what he's wearing: the knobs/keys to adjust guitar strings (someone tell me again what that is) and small plastic trash can, and best of all, his expression is timeless and his naturally wild hair.

77-06-00-1-37-DarbySt Purchase
Germs, Darby Crash aka Bobby Pyn, approx. June/July 1977, on Sunset Boulevard near Tower Records, the Whisky and the Roxy. One of their earlier photo sessions. Pleasant Gehman interviewed them for Slash Magazine and called me to take fun photos.

78-12-00-26-DarbyHellin Purchase
Germs, Darby Crash and pal Hellin Killer, around December 1978.

78-12-00-27-DarbyStitches Purchase
Germs, Darby Crash, around December 1978. This was butchered in “Lexicon Devil” because they cropped out his hair and clothes.
